Weekly Reflections on the  Reading

July 23, 2017

The Holy Spirit brings life and peace. Today we hear about God as a Father who is both merciful and just, about God who is mighty, and about the Spirit who comes to our aid. Let us turn to the lifegiving Holy Spirit for guidance and grace so we may continue growing in holiness, so we bear an effective witness to the Gospel, and so we may experience Christ’s gift of peace more fully in our lives and hearts.

In the Book of Wisdom, we hear that God is both mighty and lenient. The second reading reminds us that the Spirit helps us in our weakness, and intercedes for us according to God’s will. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches about God’s kingdom, and offers parables of grain and weeds to explain it.
