TO MY PARISH FAMILY

From the time I was named Pastor of Holy Spirit five and one-half years ago, I promised open and honest communication. I believe in operating in the high visibility of God's Light! With this in mind I want to let you know about my ongoing health issues and struggles.

Back during the Summer I was having some racing heart episodes and in September I underwent a heart procedure called "SVT Ablation" by Dr. Joseph Poku. Dr. Maria Bartlett is my Cardiologist and they have been taking wonderful care of me. They both have my sincerest gratitude and highest recommendation if you ever need their services. By the grace of God I have not had a single cardiac episode since then and have come off of two of my heart medications!

Dr. Bartlett, along with my Endocrinologist, Dr. Angel Garcia, have convinced me that if I want to continue to live a long, happy, healthy life serving God as one of His priests, that I must get this weight off of me. I have been fat all of my life and now I will turn 56 on November 28th. Age and weight have caught up with me! After much discussion, thought, and prayer I have joined Weight Watchers. I believe it offers my greatest hope for behavior modification, life style change, and permanent weight loss. There are several "Weight Watcher" women in the parish, as well as my staff, who have volunteered to help me.

I am asking for your help also. Many of you are excellent cooks and through the years have gifted me with many delicious casseroles, desserts, etc. Please do not offer and tempt me with these things as our Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach. I have to learn and retrain myself to make sensible, healthy food choices. If you have low-cal, low-fat, tasty recipes and are willing to help I will be most appreciative. All I ask is that you call me first so that I can schedule it. I don't want to be overwhelmed with food and it go to waste.

The most important thing I ask of you is your prayers and support. I have a great deal of weight to lose and I anticipate it taking me 12-18 months to get down to my desired, healthy weight. I dream and pray for the day when a much lighter, healthier Fr. Mike can be an even better priest and servant of God!

Fr. Mike Ingram, Pastor

ALL SAINTS DAY
Monday, November 1st is the Solemnity of All Saints.
Tuesday, November 2nd is All Souls Day.
This year neither day is a Holy Day of Obligation.
However, Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM both days.
They are very special days to remember our own call to holiness/sainthood and also to remember and
honor our departed loved ones. Please use the special envelopes to remember your departed loved ones
and place a leaf on our Remembrance Tree.

CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS AND BATTERIES
If you've been falling behind on sleep, this is the weekend to fall back into bed for an extra hour — and take advantage of the transition from daylight saving time to standard time. Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour, and change your smoke alarm batteries, this Saturday, November 6, 2010.

PRISON PEN PAL
Fr. Ingram has a very devout Catholic prisoner he ministers to who would like to establish a "pen pal" relationship
with a fellow Catholic. He has no Catholic family members with which to discuss his faith and there are very few Catholic
inmates for him to discuss matters with. Fr. Ingram only gets out to Central State Prison once per month for about
four hours. His name and address is listed below.
Warren Reid Hall #179172  C.S.P., E4-105
4600 Fulton Mill Road
Macon, GA 31208
Please let Fr. Ingram know if you are interested and he will gladly give you any additional information needed.

PRISON MINISTRY
Fr. Ingram does a monthly prison ministry at Central State Men's Prison in Lizella, GA. He is requesting donations of items to help the 12-15 Catholic inmates he serves have a little nicer Christmas.
Needed personal care items include:
white socks, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, lotion.
Individual serving food items include:
candy bars, cookies, chips, snack cakes, ramen soup, soda and juice (plastic bottles only).

WARNING
There is a church forming in Warner Robins called St. Theresa of Avila Progressive Catholic Church.
The pastor is Rev. Daniel Varga. Rev. Varga also "acts" as the "Catholic" chaplain at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
Neither he nor his church are part of the Roman Catholic Church!
Roman Catholics should not receive Sacraments from him.
If he offers the sacraments, kindly tell him you would prefer a priest who is Roman Catholic.
For sacraments while in any hospital in Macon, one should call the church office (478) 788-6386 and Fr. Ingram will administer Anointing of the Sick and our Eucharistic Ministers will be happy to regularly visit with Holy Communion.

CATHOLICS COME HOME
Be on the lookout for an exciting new program coming to the Diocese of Savannah and the Archdiocese of Atlanta
called "Catholics Come Home." It is a united effort to reconnect fallen away Catholics back to their Catholic faith
and coming back to church. Very positive and powerful television commercials will air on the major networks during
prime time December 17, 2010 through January 23, 2011. We must be prepared here at Holy Spirit to welcome them
back home and make them feel like long-missed family members. How can we make them feel welcome and
wanted? In what ways are you willing to help? Mike and Joyce Danovi have volunteered to be our contact persons
for this new program. Please contact them to volunteer and/or offer suggestions.
