WELCOME MSGR. CUDDY!
We welcome Msgr. John Cuddy back to Holy Spirit and greatly appreciate him leading us in worship while
Fr. Ingram is on the RCTC pilgrimage to Germany. Please help make Msgr. Cuddy feel at home
and offer to assist him in any way possible.

STEWARDSHIP A WAY OF LIFE

What is Stewardship? Knowing that God has given you a gift. A gift isn’t something you earn.
It’s a gift entrusted to you for the sake of the whole community, including your church.
The only question is whether you will put it at the service of the Church or not.
Pray that you will grow in your understanding of stewardship and the giving
of your talents and abilities.

CCD CLASSES HAVE BEGUN!
"As those first responsible for the education of their children, parents . . . should initiate their children at an early
age into the mysteries of the faith . . . Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child’s earliest years.
Showing themselves obedient to the will of the Father in heaven, parents should educate their children
to fulfill God’s law." (Condensed from the Catechism of the Catholic Church #2222 – 2229)

Parents, we welcome you to the Holy Spirit CCD Sunday School Program. If you are returning or new please know
that we are here to help you in your awesome responsibility. Our teachers and aides are very knowledgeable and
devoted to the children. They are more than willing to partner with you in educating your children
in our wonderful Catholic faith.

We do need your support and assistance in reinforcing what is taught on Sundays. We are only with them for approximately two hours (Mass & CCD). You are with them the rest of the week. Here are a couple of suggestions:
1.) Have the child tell you what they learned in class that Sunday.
2.) Attend "Coffee with the Pastor" while your child is in Sunday School.
Fr. Ingram will gladly answer any and all questions.
3.) Read the Bible and pray together as a family every day.
4.) Attend Mass together as a family every Sunday.
It is a requirement for all children in our CCD Program.

Your children will learn about our rich Catholic faith and the Gospel of Jesus Christ through regular and consistent
attendance of CCD classes. But they also learn by watching you! If they see how important God and your
Catholic faith are to you, they, in turn, will come to know and value Him in that same special way. Ask the Holy Spirit
help you to be a good teacher and faithful witness of true faith for your children!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
Is the Lord tugging at you to help those less fortunate ?
Then the Saint Katherine Drexel Conference of the Saint Vincent DePaul Society needs you .
The harvest truly is plenty, but the laborers are few. (Mt 9:37-38)
We need more volunteers to spend an hour every so often to visit people in their homes and assist them with their financial and spiritual needs. We will have a pot luck dinner meeting on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 6 PM in the Social Hall of Saint Peter Claver Church. Please join us to learn more.

SAVE THE DATE
On Friday, October 1 the Knights of Columbus will have their First Friday Mass here at Holy Spirit at 6 PM followed by their famously delicious Fish Fry including all the trimmings. The food is plentiful with many choices and very reasonably priced. We want to welcome the Knights and show our appreciation by having great attendance at Mass and at the Fish Fry. All parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend!
