RCIA
Are you interested in becoming a Catholic and being received into the Church? Perhaps you would like to inquire
into the basics of the Catholic faith? Maybe you are already a Catholic, and would like to know more about your faith and the teachings of our Church. Or maybe you never received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and would like to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church. If so, join us for RCIA/Inquiry classes on Tuesday evenings from 7:00–8:00 PM.
You are under no obligation if you attend. We will begin our journey of faith with an information session and overview of the classes next Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in the Parish Hall. All are welcome.
For more information call the Parish office at 478- 788-6386

C.C.D. BEGINS NEXT SUNDAY

Only 1 more week until C.C.D. starts - are your children registered?
And just what is CCD? It stands for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. It was an association established at Rome in 1562 for the purpose of giving religious education.
Classes are for children from K-3 through 8th grade and meet in the schoolhouse from 11:15 AM until 12:15 PM.
Children will have their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion during their 2nd grade.
We celebrate Confirmation in the 8th grade and please note that Mount de Sales students also need to attend C.C.D. Students must be enrolled for the whole school year in order to properly prepare for these Sacraments.
Registration forms are available in the Narthex..

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNTY
We also need volunteers to teach the children of our parish.
Please consider this rewarding ministry.
Volunteer forms are in the Narthex.
If you are interested in becoming part of our program, please contact Petra Baker at 788-6386 or email at dre@holyspiritmacon.org.

HAPPY LABOR DAY!
The church office will be closed on Monday, September 6th in honor of the Labor Day holiday. There will be no Mass or
Communion Service on Monday. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and fun Labor Day!

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
The Holy Spirit Parish Council Meeting will be this Thursday, September 9 at 7:00 PM in the Social Hall.
It is the first meeting of the new Parish Council and it is very important that all Parish Council Members attend.
All parishioners are welcome and encouraged to attend.

MEN'S CLUB
Please note the date change for our September meeting! We will meet on Thursday, September 16th instead our normal second Tuesday of the month. A delicious supper prepared by our Chef Joe Hargrove will start us off at 6:30 PM followed by an incredibly interesting, powerful, and important DVD on the nuclear arms treaty featuring Colin Powell, Henry Kissinger, and Georgia's own Sam Nunn. Our Catholic faith demands that we be educated and informed citizens!
All men of the parish are encouraged to attend!

HELP NEEDED
Bruce and Pattie Warren's cousin in Pennsylvania has by the grace of God adopted five children who had been in foster care. We would like to assist her with this heroic undertaking by helping to provide gently used or new clothes for these children. Sizes needed are Boys 10-12 and Girls 6. For more information please call Pattie Warren at 785-5813.

K OF C BLOOD  DRIVE
The Knights of Columbus will be holding a blood drive on Thursday, September 16 at St. Joseph in the Social Hall. The drive will be held from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Sign-up sheets are in the narthex , or contact Dennis Staples at 607-1818.

RETROUVAILLE WEEKEND
Retrouvaille is a program of the Catholic Church that attempts to help save troubled marriages and to provide a
source of renewal and rediscovery. It has had remarkable success and we encourage any couple who is struggling
to give it a try! Then next weekend will be September 10-12 in Augusta, GA.
For more information call (800) 470- 2230. Completely Confidential.

COUPONING SEMINAR

St. Joseph's Home and School Association is sponsoring a
Savings Sense coupon seminar Sept.11 in the Church Social Hall.
To register go to www.macon.com/savingssense or by calling the Telegraph at 478-744-4548.

MANY, MANY THANKS!
Thanks to all of you who came out to the "Clubhouse" on Hwy. 247 Saturday night to support our wonderful Second Wind Band as they continue to raise money for our Building Fund. Good food, great music, and cold beverages made for a very entertaining evening! Since July 4th our Second Wind Band has raised over $2,500.00 for our Building Fund! Please keep them in mind if your company or civic club might be interested in booking them for a party during football season or the upcoming holidays.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
In today's Gospel, Jesus lays out the demands of following Him, the great cost of discipleship. The Mission Statement of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul states: "Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice." Have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?
Please call us at 745-7000 or come to our next meeting on Monday September 20, at 538 Orange Street.
